FLORIDA’S
CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 22
This district has been –significantly-
altered by the Florida State Congress.
It still stretches along the South East shoreline of Florida.
From Palm Beach
County all the way up to the borderline of Broward and Dade counties.
The Dade section has been excised.
The district used end in Miami Beach (where Democratic voters
are clearly the majority). Instead,
now the district encompasses additional territory in Palm Beach (where
Republicans dominate). The
population of my district is 600,000 (95% are white and 5% black).
Close to 12% are Hispanics (about the same rate as the national
average). One forth the
population ranges from 25-to-44 years of age, and one third of the
people of this district are older than 60.
Jewish and Italian-born Americans are the majority ethnic
groups. Below this line can be
seen a scan of my district, before (left) and after
(right) the apportioning.
